Sarah Coggles – A York Fashion Store

If anything injected me with the fashion buzz, that was working at Sarah Coggles in York. This truly iconic store began as a humble yet quirky market stall, back in 1974, by Victoria Bage. It has since then become two shops, one for women, and one for men. With over 80 brands in stock, including Vivienne Westwood, Fornarina, Diesel, Paul Smith and many more, this award-winning store is one of the most iconic places in York.

Their staff aim to create a unique fashion experience for whoever enters the shop. Personal care, style advice, working there meant learning a lot and fast, but it was the one of the most inspirational periods in my life. Sadly, I left the UK and that was the end of some fantastic months at Sarah Coggles.

Since then, the store has entered the world of online retailing (hooray for that) and has added more stunning brands to its collection. If you are ever in York, it would be a sin, a huge one, not to go by Sarah Coggles.

We Want It Now

We really need to get our hands on one of this season’s greatest pieces, the military coat. Until then, we will dream of this electric trench coat by Karen Millen (250 pounds/315 euro). Gorgeous blue, ideal for the cooler weather, and for that price, hopefully rain-proof?

What is Elegance?

“Elegance is not the prerogative of those
who have just escaped from adolescence,
but of those who have already taken possession
of their future”
Coco Chanel

We can expect two films based on Coco Chanel’s life for the near future. One starring Audrey Tautou, focusing on the designer’s youth, directed by Anne Fontaine. The other flick, directed by Jan Kounen, will portray the passionate affair she had with Russian composer Igor Stravinsky.

Get the Look – Kelly Jones

Who is he? The lead singer (in picture, right) of the fantastic Welsh band Stereophonics.

Key Songs? Mr. Writer, Superman, Just Looking, Dakota, A Thousand Trees, The Bartender And The Thief…I could go on! and the latest You’re My Star.

The Look? This is vintage rock star, shirts combined with tight leather jackets, and fitted jeans, boot-cut or straight. Add old-school rough boots, with zippers, buckles, no cowboy boots allowed, please. Sunglasses are a must, classic shades. Aviator style suits this look to the ground. The classic Ray-Bans are the style we are aiming for.

Bored Of Your Underwear?

Fashion Limbo’s favourite lingerie store is coming to the UK! Women’Secret is already present in Spain, Portugal, France and Belgium, and from next year Brits will be able to enjoy this fun label.

Who? Belonging to the Cortefiel group (Springfield, Pedro del Hierro), this Spanish label has become extremely popular in and out of Spain.

What to expect? A wide range of pyjamas and underwear, from the catwalk to your bedroom. From colourful possibilities, to more grown-up monochrome designs.

What do we love? Their range of basic underwear, with a bra for every occasion, every dress, whether strapless, backless, etc. And the quality is great too.
