Hot Vs Cold

IN- In this financially-tight times use charity shops and second-hand stores more than ever. De-cluttering has become trendy, and many thrift stores are displaying the best collections in a long time. Vintage is fabulous, whatever the age.

OUT- Spending your last credit remains on throw-away fashion. Recycle and invest in good quality items you can wear over and over again, mix and match and that will still look fabulous when the economy picks up and our shopping sprees become affordable again.

Fashion Madness

My friend Sabine was clearing out her library recently, and thanks to her I got my hands on Fashion Babylon by Imogen Edwards-Jones and Anonymous. A thoroughly enjoyable read for anyone mildly interested in the fashion industry, it provides with a satirical and scary insight into the world behind the glossy magazine covers and glamorous fashion shows. The names have been changed, but the events described are stated by the author as true. A great read, extremely entertaining and full of surprises.

Where Did the Confessions Go?

I went to see Confessions of a Shopaholic yesterday, and although I didn’t expect a grand film, I was waiting to enjoy a chick-flick with some sassy fashion-related jokes alongside. What I got was a horribly-styled production (Patricia Field makes Isla Fisher look like a clown most of the time), an over simplistic script, and all in all, the feeling that whoever produced this had very little respect of the target audience in mind.

So disappointing…and boring.
