Bikinis are a Woman’s Secret

On of our favourite brands, Women Secret, is presenting us this summer with an array of sexy yet uncomplicated bikinis. The navy stripes, flowered patterns and retro graphics are the main stars, with bikini cuts mainly the simple classic triangle types.

Summer is Here!

We know that there are still 23 days until we can officially call it summer, but here at Fashion Limbo we are loving the high temperatures and all the excuses to wear gladiator sandals, block coloured mini dresses, fuchsia mini-skirts and all the bikini shopping!

We are opening the season with one of our creations, the Sabine top, modelled by none other than Sabine herself. We modified a simple white tee, got rid of the sleeves, added some colour and a pink bow, et voilá summer in a top! Beautiful picture taken by Dieter Quaghebeur.

Mary Portas, Queen of Charity Shops

Mary Portas is one of Fashion Limbo’s all-time idols.  She is an icon in the UK in terms of retail  branding and communication. She transformed Harvey Nichols into what it is today, one of the biggest fashion stores in London and in the world. Yes, we do love her.

Her newest project involves teaming up with Grazia magazine to run a so called pop-up charity shop in The Village at Westfield London. There have been some really hot donations already (from American Vogue, Harvey Nichols, there is even a Miu Miu number!), but now they are involving the shopping public. They are asking for anything fashionable or wearable to be donated. All the money raised is going to charity, so let’s get involved! For more info click here.
When charity shopping,
Always arrive early and if possible find out when the new deliveries arrive. There are real treasures to be found and they fly away fast.
Word-of-mouth is key, and the best charity shops don’t really publisize so much, so ask around and get to know the hot areas.
Use your imagination, if the dress you love is a few sizes bigger you can always modify it yourself or take it to a professional and have it adjusted for not that much

Want this Friday Look? – Fearne Cotton

BBC presenter and fashion icon Fearne Cotton gives us a lesson in how to easily put together a casual and relaxed, yet trendy and chic, Friday look.

Boyfriend cardigan – it can be any over-sized cardi, whether it belongs your man, brother or dad, even your house-mate! now it belongs to you.
Girlie top – great with the boyfriend cardigan, any girlie top you have in your closet, pale pink, white or beige
Skinny jeans – dark-coloured or black, to give that chic quality
Army boots – or any chunky boots you have, no ballet pumps allowed! It may be warm and sunny out there, but we do get the odd shower and you will be glad to have your feet in these comfortable yet trendy allies.
Accessories – add a black bowler hat and, importantly, a glamorous handbag in the same colour and the job is done.
Result: Effortless chic, comfortable and perfect for your Friday shopping trip, or a relaxed coffee with friends.

Look of the Day – Rose McGowan

Red is one of the hottest block colours with which to play this summer. Red lips are truly sexy if you have a pale skin and wish to give the tanned look a miss. We love how Rose McGowan adds a pair of beige T-bar wedges to give this red look a twist, and how the aviator sunglasses bring old-school Hollywood glamour. An easy to copy look, a truly stylish result.

Do you love it as much as we do?

News Flash: Scarlett Loves Mango

Fellow blogger Laia Cenea writes in Spanish fashion blog Trendencias breaking the news that Scarlett Johansson will be the face for Mango in the upcoming Autumn/Winter campaign. We will miss Penélope Cruz (though it is still unclear whether her work with the brand will cease) but we cannot wait to see what Scarlett adds to the catalogue.

Trendencias also features a picture of the shoot (above). For the rest of the entry click here.

Behold…The Return of the Scrunchie

When it comes to embracing the 80s American Apparel is determined to make the decade of fluo alive as it was twenty years ago. After big shoulders, crazy patterned leggings and pork-pie hats, it is the turn of the scrunchie. Are they serious? Fashion Limbo solemnly swears you will not catch us wearing one, but how about the rest of you?

All together now, quoting Carrie Bradshaw, in a high-pitched tone: “A scrunchie!!!????”

Summer in the Office – Dos and Dont’s

With more of us spending this summer at the office rather than at the beach, summer work attire can be a challenge, especially keeping it appropriate. Zara (top-left) has decided to bring colour into our lives with a skirt and top combo. Stella McCartney (above-right) for Net-a-Porter is offering an endless array of options in nude, with dresses, cardigans and suits ideal for the hotter months. Penelope Cruz’s collection at Mango (below-left) is giving the sexy suit an easy and comfortable twist.

Remember:
Don’t wear spaghetti straps, mini skirts, and avoid strappy stilettos as not only will they end up being torture after a few hours but they are more suited for an evening out
Do maintain some of your identity. Avoid wearing anything that will make you feel uncomfortable.
Don’t go see-through, no matter how hot it is, what you wear underneath must not be seen!

Armani’s Face Fabric – How Nude Can You Go?

It’s happened to all of us: a few hours at work and we begin to feel the weight of our expensive and supposedly light eye-shadow, our lids are sticky and heavy. The shared office air leaves your make-up melting and we look waxy and tired. Armani cosmetics range has a product that may just be the thing for us yearning for a lighter yet flawless look: Face Fabric

At Fashion Limbo we loved the texture. As at the start it seemed like a normal fond deteint, but as soon as we rubbed it into our skin the texture transformed into a velvety thin, extremely light coat of colour. We wore it alone and it felt like wearing nothing at all. The result? We felt fresh-faced and had a lovely boost of brightness and natural colour to our skin.

We loved – The colour palette Face Fabric offers is wide with porcelain pales, gearing towards darker tones. All of them contribute to a natural and transparent result, with just the right hint of colour. We also LOVE how it cares for our skin with SPF12.
We were unsure about – It’s exclusivity. In Belgium there are few outlets offering Armani cosmetics, in Antwerp and Brussels. The same exclusivity applies for the UK and other European countries and the US. However, we kind of like this…ahhh to feel special and beautiful 😉
To locate stockists go to Giorgio Armani Beauty. RRP: 44 Euro
In Belgium, Giorgio Armani cosmetics can be found at:
Parfuma – Eiermarkt 31, Antwerp
Galeria INNO – Rue Neuve 111, Brussels
