Get the Genius – Ed Hardy

Who? Originally from Southern France, Christian Audigier launched the Ed Hardy clothing line in 2006. Inspired by themes such as vintage fashion, American retro, Hollywood and the tattoo culture, he brought the rights to iconic tattoo artist Don Ed Hardy.

Style? Ed Hardy has become a staple label amongst celebrities including Madonna (pictured above), B. Spears, Heidi Klum and many more. Caps, jackets, shoes, t-shirts…the label is growing fast in popularity. Colourful, unisex, fun and comfortable, Fashion Limbo definitively has been loving it since the start.
Possibly true? Rumour has it that Madonna is going to be teaming up with this fun label to produce a line of her own…we will just have to wait and see if this wonderful rumour could become a fantastic truth.

Treckie Style

One of our aims this coming months is to include more men in our daily fashion rant. We commence with Simon Pegg, at the premiere for the new Star Treck film, donning a rather elegant kilt. What is it about a man in a skirt? Funny enough, it is ever so manly.

Crying Fashion

Fashion Limbo has been a fan of VV Brown since we first saw her on the Jools Holland show last year. We have been in love with her single Crying Blood, and now we simply cannot keep the secret that we have a true style icon in the making. She is one of the most stylish girls belonging to those retro tribes that make London so much fun (gosh how we miss the City in the sun).

Who? Vanessa Brown, mainly know as VV Brown, is a London based retro-pop singer, one of the latest starts of the indie scene, she is set to make it big this year.
VV Brown and fashion? she has already been featured in many magazines, fashion icons such as Vogue are wanting her as cover girl. Her beautiful complexion and extremely long legs have caught the attention of many designers and she has even appeared in a Nokia campaign.
Her style? Retro mini dresses, sequined leggings and her iconic hairstyle are all we can think about right now.

Cheap Spring Glamour: Mathew Williamson at H&M

Spring is here and with the warmer months fun begins, starting with H&M; and Mathew Williamson. We already gave you the news months ago, and now it is all about to happen.

Watch out for: a gorgeous studded pink belt and the peacock silk dress (above, worn by Katy Perry a few days ago) are surely going to fly off the shelves.
All in all: very colourful, rich in fabrics (silks, leather). If you are near an H&M; store on the 23rd April, walk into the shop confidently, or completely avoid it, as it will not be a place for the faint at heart.

Hot Trend: Harem Trousers

They have been around for a while, as the trendiest fashionistas began experimenting with them last year, but it is this summer when this style is either going to make it or break it…in your closet. Zara have even stocked-up on quite an affordable and laid-back type, while examples by Diane von Furstenberg and American Retro are more tailored and dressy.

The key? Keep the look simple. Overloading it with accessories, belts and complicated patterns will not work. So easy and simple does it: team with a slim top, something light accentuating your chest curve and how this line slims down to your waist.
The best look? With so many fabulous heels out there, this is where you should make the statement: pair with platform sandals for a killer effect. Scared of heights? a fancy flat pump can also look great.

Fashion in a Cake

Fashion is not only about fabrics wrapping a stylish body, or high heel clad feet, or the right kind of jewelry or complements…it is also about lifestyle and everything involved, and one very important element of lifestyle is food.

They have become the hottest trend at celebrity weddings and now they are moving towards corporate events and even the most fashionable of trends: homes sales and fashion swap parties. They can follow a theme, feature sugar shoe emblems and there are some extremely good dairy-free recipes out there.
Magnolia in New York, or simply google “cupcake London” and you will have endless UK-based possibilities…now, how long until they make it to the Old Continent?
If you are throwing a party, cupcake is the new Manolo.

Cool Britannia Arrives in NY

Topshop‘s first ever US store will open tomorrow in Broadway, and Drapers has had an exclusive sneak-preview. We wonder if US shoppers and fashionistas are so excited about this as we are. We adore the brand and love their approach to marketing and advertising, their designs and huge creativity portrayed in their lines.

The shop in the SoHo are of lower Manhattan will have four floors featuring one floor for shoes, another one with accessories and clothes, and the other floors will include Kate Moss’ collection, some designer wear and of course, even more fashionable clothing. The ground floor will be dedicated in its entirety to Topman.

All very exciting, all very British and pushing the “cool Britannia” emblem throughout,  we wonder if new yorkers will be able to forget about the financial crisis and begin sporting shopping bags from Topshop.
Still, we wished we were in NY…
