Your Boyfriend/Brother/GBF Makes you Trendy

Yes indeed. We are in a recession and hopefully it will be over soon, but until then fashion means recycling, buying responsibly and stealing (we mean borrowing!!) from your brother, boyfriend or whatever other male element shares your living space. You now share their clothing too! This is how you do it:

Boyfriend jeans: These jeans have been sported for a while by the likes of Katie Holmes (above, centre) and are worn best cropped. The most fashionable example seen recently was in the first episode of the new series of Entourage in which the character played by Emmanuele Chriqui (Sloan) paired them with some stunning heels.
Boyfriend shirt: checked shirts are in and these look lovely with shorts, however white summery shirts like the one worn above by Keira Knightley (pictured left) are also a winning option. If the shirt is too big grab a belt (one of yours, lets not push it) and wear as a dress with some gorgeous platform stilettos. The good news? this trend can be prolonged throughout autumn with a pair of opaque tights.
The tie: ever so sexy and such a statement, paired with fitted shirts, t-shirts for rock-chicks, and with transparencies a lá Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah-Jessica Parker is featured above right), keep them in dark shades to up the elegance factor and do not give them back 😉

Summer Trend – The Scarf

Summer can be a tad irregular at times with its summer storms and sudden cold breezes, and before you know it you have caught the dreaded summer cold, or your vocal cords are an annoying source of pain. How to remedy this? no, no hot drinks or weird concoctions, but a trendy trend: the summer scarf.

I have a few from last season including prints with stars, others with ethnic patterns, and some bright-coloured Palestinian ones. However my latest summer scarf crush is the pink one pictured above (top and right) which I got from cmarchuska.
In hot pink, a key colour this season, and with a bit of a tie-dye effect making it very bohemian with a chic twist. Made with organic cotton it feels fresh and light and will surely keep me away from the dreaded throat lozenges.
The sales are the perfect opportuniy to grab scarves in a wide array of materials, silk, cotton, etc. Stock up on them and team with the most summery of attires and off you go.

Givenchy is Fit for a Queen

We were at Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet show in Werchter (Belgium), where in true Belgian style, it poured down with rain, only for the skies to clear as soon as Madonna hit the stage. We loved the show and couldn’t help but admire this Givenchy outfit pictured above.

It consisted of a cropped jacket in black double silk satin and tulle, adorned with black stone, silk organza, guipure lace and some black cellophane discs.
The designer is Ricardo Tisci for Givenchy. For more info click here.

A Tanned Justin

While it may be a tad hot to discuss leather, we do like this jacket Justin Timberlake was wearing at the G-Star Raw Men’s Fashion Show in Berlin.

Any tips? Leather or faux-leather jackets are always a good investment. They tend to be wearable all year round, unless it is too hot or extremely cold, bien sûr! Remember to treat them with some waterproof product BEFORE wear.
When to buy? There should be plenty of examples at the sales, and while you may feel in this heat-wave you are in no mood to purchase one, Fashion Limbo managed to bag the best, coolest jacket ever in the month of August, in the South of Spain, with temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. Yes it was a while until I could wear it, but it is two years old this summer and we wear it all the time. Fashionable, extremely sexy and goes well with jeans, dresses, etc.
Guys, bag yourself a black or tanned one, Kelly Jones always knows best and you should too.
